Congress Information

 

Venue

The congress will be held at the Conference and Educational Center (in Hungarian: Villányi úti Konferencia Központ).

Address: Villányi út 11-13, H-1114 Budapest. Phone during the congress: (36-1)-166-63-00/congress desk.

The Congress Center is situated on the Buda side near Gellért Hill; downtown can be easily reached by bus or tram.

Registration Delegates should register and collect congress documentation at the Conference and Educational Center.

The Registration Desk will be open on 17 August from 12.00 and will be operating throughout the congress. Details are given in the Time Table.

 

Language

The official language of the Congress is English. There will be no simultaneous interpretation.

 

Exhibition

There will be an exhibition of relevant literature by publishers, and relevant hardware and software by computer firms. A biologically motivated art exhibition is likely to accompany the meeting.

 

Funds

Funds will be available mostly to East European participants. On the condition of at least an accepted poster.

 

Abstracts

The abstract must be submitted on the attached official abstract form or clean copies of the form. The entire abstract must not exceed the size of the rectangular space provided on the form. For more detailed informations please follow carefully the instructions on the attached abstract form.

 

Posters

Panels are 95 cm (38") wide and 140 cm (56") high.

 

Refreshments

Coffee and tea will be available in the congress area throughout the Congress.

 

Lunch

Lunch will be available at the restaurant of the Conference Center - at extra charge (15 DM), highly recommended to order in advance. There will be no lunch available on August 20 (see registration form).

There are other restaurants within walking distance from the Conference Center (even McDonald's).

 

Official Social Events

17 August, 7.00 pm - Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception in the Conference and Educational Center (included in registration fee).

23 August - Farewell Party (at extra charge). Bus tour to the Great Hungarian Plain, dinner in a traditional Hungarian Inn (csárda) with spicy delicacies of the Hungarian cuisine, romantic gypsy music. Transportation by bus direct from the congress site right after the sessions.

Registration, Accommodation and Optional Programmes

Registration, hotel booking and optional tourist programs will be handled by the

Please complete the registration form and return, together with the appropriate fees, to TENSI Tours, at your earliest convenience but not later than May 20, 1996. The form is for one delegate and his/her accompanying guest. Please note that a registration form received without a payment does not constitute registration.

Registration fee includes: admission to all scientific sessions, ongress documentation, opening ceremony, welcome reception, and offee/tea in the breaks.

Accompanying persons' fee includes: opening ceremony, welcome eception, Budapest sightseeing tour and a half-day tour.

 

 

 

 

Accommodation

 

Booking Procedure

Room reservation will be made upon receipt of the hotel deposit. Only bookings made through the Congress Department, TENSI Tours will secure these rates. Please complete the accommodation section of the registration form giving a choice of hotels. Due to the pressure on Budapest accommodation, delegates are advised to book early. Rooms cannot be guaranteed after April 20, 1996.

 

Confirmation of booking

The confirmation of the reservation will be sent to delegates upon receipt of the appropriate deposit and fees. It has to be presented to the hotel upon arrival. Delegates will have to pay the balance of their hotel bill directly to the hotel.

Rooms reserved at dormitories have to be paid for at the Registration Desk on the congress site and not at the Dormitory.

 

Change of booking

Any change in a reservation must be announced to Congress Department, TENSI Tours and not to the hotel or dormitory. The Congress Department will make amendments and issue new confirmation.

 

Accommodation information

All room rates are given in DEM and include breakfast, tax and service charges.

Description of Hotels (see location on the enclosed map)

HILTON ***** - Castle hill located hotel, with fantastic view of the Danube, Margaret Island and the Pest-side of Budapest, 10 minutes drive from the city centre.

 

NOVOTEL **** - Situated in the middle of a big park in the Buda green belt, and is only three tram stops away from the congress site.

 

FLAMENCO **** - One of the few hotels in Budapest that has quiet, peaceful surrondings, it is a few minutes away from the congress venue.

 

MEDOSZ ** - A simple, but friendly hotel welcoming its guests in the heart of the city. The congress site can be reached by direct tram line No. 6.

 

GRIFF ** - The hotel has a family atmosphere, and is situated in a quiet environment with direct tram and bus lines to the congress site.

Description of Dormitories

No.1. Eötvös Kollégium - Located very near to the Conference Center, is a nice old building in the Buda green belt. Simple rooms; shower, toilette and kitchen are in the corridor.

Common rooms with satellite TV programmes. Please note that no towels are available for the guests. No breakfast possibility.

Snack-bars and supermarkets are in the neighbourhood. Buffet on conference site will operate.

 

No.2. Kertészeti Egyetem Somogyi Béla Kollégiuma - Situated in the middle of a big park in the Buda green belt, it is only 15 minutes walk from the congress site.

Rooms are simple with hot and cold water. Shower, toilette and kitchen with refrigerator can be found in the corridor. TV lounge in every floor with satellite programs. Automatic wash machines are available at extra charge.

 

No.3. Államigazgatási Fõiskola Kollégiuma - Located near Gellért Hill, in a quiet park, just 10 minutes walk from the congress site.

Rooms are air-conditioned. A two-room block has its own shower and toilette. TV-lounge on every floor with satellite programs. Swimming-pool, sauna and tennis court are available at extra charge.

 

No.4. Közép Európai Egyetem Kollégiuma (CEU - Central European University) - Located in suburban Budapest.

Totally reconstructed and refurnished rooms in a 10 storey modern building. There are apartments with kitchenette and private bathroom with one and two bedrooms (available only for 1 or 2 persons), there are double rooms but most of the rooms are single with private bathroom. The building is fully air-conditioned, and has common rooms, automatic washing mashines, a swimming pool and a fitness centre. A free shuttle service will operate for participants during the congress between the dormitory and Conference Center in the morning and after the sessions.

 

 

 

 

Payment

 

Method of payment

All payments (registration fee, hotel deposit, and full payment for optional tours) must be made payable in DEM (German Mark) net of banking charges either

Make sure to indicate ICSEB V. and your name on your money transfer.

Please attach a photocopy of the bank draft to the registration form.

Please note, that a registration and reservation form received without payment does not constitute registration and room reservation.

A computer printout will be sent to all participants as confirmation.

 

 

 

 

Cancellation, Modification and Refund

 

Registration Fee

Notification of cancellation must be sent to the Congress Department, TENSI Tours. Refunds of fees, less 20% administration charge, may be applied for until July 31, 1996. It is to be regretted that no refund of fees can be made after this date.

 

Accommodation

The hotel deposit will be refunded (deposit less 10 DEM administration charge) only if notice of cancellation is received in writing by TENSI Tours before June 15, 1996.

Please note, that the hotel modification must be sent to TENSI Tours, and not directly to the hotels, or dormitories.

 

Optional Tours

In the event of any unforeseen circumstances, the Congress organisers reserve the right to cancel or amend any tours as necessary.

Cancellations prior to July 31, 1996 are subject to a 10% administration charge. Refunds cannot be made after July 31, 1996.
